I call my big kid all kinds of things and the little one whatever she is babbling about at the moment.

We adopted a teen boy. I recently started calling him Bubba and Bub as a term of endearment. It took a while to settle on something that felt organic.

I was the most cynical younger person too. Very snarl. It makes me giggle. Now everything is sweetie sweetie sweetie and pink purple glitter mermaid unicorn
