How is this DeSantis' fault? I'll fault him for a lot of things, but that isn't one. I don't fault Mayor Castor, either. People are going to be stupid! If it's any consolation, a huge rainstorm came through not long after this.

Florida has its issues for sure, but we can't pretend that this irresponsible social gathering is specific to FL. It happens everywhere, even in DC. I'm sure once restrictions get lifted (like the upcoming one regarding venue capacity) you will see large gatherings.

I am from Florida. Most of my family is still there and this includes a SIL who is a teacher. They have been normalish since schools opened in the Fall. The only difference is my father no longer goes to the gym---otherwise, they are living their lives. No issues. Many a time this past year I have regretted moving my family up here.

You can die of pneumonia, you can die of heart disease, you can die of asthma so if those are the primary cause of death and yes, that should be listed
Also, asthma is not the big risk factor it was once believed to be

I live here. My parents (also live here) got their 2nd dose this week. I did not have any trouble getting them an appt.
My kids are in in-person school, where the protocols are followed VERY strictly. We've had no in-school transmission.
Everywhere I go, including work, church (open with, again, strict protocols same as the schools since we meet in one), stores, everyone is wearing a mask. I still haven't seen these hordes of unmasked people. Granted, I'm not at a chef's table or random grocery store in Naples...oh, and the area I live/work in , went blue in the election.
The generalizing in this thread is breathtaking, and scary-it's this kind of mindset that leads to the things we've been seeing in the nation.
I’m in a red county in Florida and can assure you this is not our experience here. Tons of people not masking.

I don't hate Florida but I do worry about people in Florida reproducing the UK strain.
