People like her are also why I can't get behind Romney's 'Child' Plan. She would get $3,000 a year PER kid until each one turns 18. You're telling me a anarchist with no redeeming qualities or contributions to society who is already on welfare deserves $24,000 a year for two decades because....she's fertile?
I think you are missing the point.
That woman is an insurrectionist yet she may be living on welfare. You don't see the dichotomy there?
I also grew up lower income, and at one point when my dad got laid off, we had to go on food stamps. I now have about $3mil net worth and have paid back in taxes more than 10 fold. So yea, I agree that those kinds of programs can indeed benefit many people in aiding them getting out of poverty. But, she supports a political leader who wants to gut the very programs you say helps people, like her kids.

Just to point out--a woman can be a single mom to 8 kids without having multiple baby daddies, although I don't know anything about Powell's history. I have a friend who divorced her husband when the 8th kid was a toddler (how she did not conclude the husband had BPD and refused treatment a few kids earlier I can't say). She did rely on assistance for several years. The age span was 14 years in her case, and she was a college student when they married and had their first. And it was quite a free for all in the home, and a couple of the middle kids ended up with serious drug addiction. The rest were very self-reliant, getting fast food jobs at 14 and doing well as adults.
It's also possible to raise a bunch of kids as a single parent without assistance if, say, you own a farmstead and able to grow most of your own food, heat with wood, get some income in the form of child support, and not have any serious medical problems, forego vaccines and treat minor illnesses and injuries at home. But a lot of people can only pull that off for a few years, and it's also possible she's only been single for a few years.

PP, I am very seriously not making fun of you at all, but your argument has been used since time immemorial to deny families increased welfare benefits like WIC and SNAP under the theory that they were having more kids to increase their benefits.
And? It’s true. Half of Utah lists the women as ‘single households’ to get better tax and welfare benefits.

My parents got divorced when I was in my twenties and after that my mom was married to a real loser for a few years (haven’t seen him since 2015 but I bet a million dollars he loves Trump and would not be at all surprised if I found out he and his family were at the Capitol on 1/6). I had to go to his son’s house for a family function once. The son had a few kids who looked like they hadn’t bathed or brushed their hair in quite a while. The house was a total dump. When the kids wanted a snack the mom literally threw crackers on the floor for them to eat. I kid you not. Oh and they had a pet snake that they would just let out of its enclosure whenever. It’s easy to be unaware of how some people live if you’ve never encountered it. The whole family was from PA... not sure what it is about that state. I know plenty of normal people from there but it seems to have its share of crazies too.

Yes. I swear to God. And I could tell when it happened that it was a totally normal thing in their house. I hate calling people trashy but there is really no other word for this family. I hated my mom's ex the first time I met him and it was so frustrating that she did not see him and his family for what they were... losers and users. Her ex also had a daughter who was a single mom because the dad was in jail for drugs, and somehow my mom would end up always babysitting for the daughter so she could go on dates... including overnight dates. Like every time I called this kid was in the background. Apparently everyone in the family had told the daughter that the baby daddy was bad news when they first got together, and she chose to be stubborn and stay with him and obviously not prevent a pregnancy. Then she tried to be all "oh poor me I'm a single mom". My mom is a really nice person who will do anything for anyone and this family took complete advantage. There are so many other stories. I think at one point my mom became afraid this ex was going to kill her for her life insurance or something. She started sending me all this paperwork in the mail regarding her will and what she wanted done with various belongings... it was extremely concerning. Very glad she divorced him.
That must have been so frightening! I'm glad she got away from him.
