Which one? There are 3. FEA?
It seems FEA backtracked in that a bit, no?
Yes, they got backlash for that.

I have attended all of the meetings for my kids and think opening can be done safely in the classroom. I can’t get over cafeterias. Both of the schools are planning lunch in cafeterias. How can he say schools are relatively safe, as I just heard on the press conference, when all of those unmasked kids are eating together? Is indoor dining in restaurants now safe?
Eat in the classroom where kids are 6ft apart and kids are staying in place. Face shield to offer at least some protection.
Use the cafeteria as extra space for the overcrowded classrooms to spread out.
Yep, this is what our kid's private has been doing since October. So far, no cases.
That’s a nice plan, but I’m a high school teacher and my child is in middle school. Both are planning on regular lunch periods in the cafeteria. That’s why I’m not comfortable with my DC going back. I can eat in a classroom but my kid won’t be able to at school. Are any FCPS schools having them eat anywhere other than the cafeteria?
My DD is in 7th grade. 40% of her school chose hybrid. Which means that 20% of students will be there on a given day. I'm comfortable with them eating in the cafeteria at 1/5th capacity.

Yes. My ES is using the cafeteria, gym and some classrooms.

I wish people would stop talking about whether the "feel" safe. You can't feel virus exposure. And you can do risky things and not get sick or do low risk things and get sick. That's how statistics work.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I understand why teachers and staff want to be vaccinated. Interesting. Are they putting all of the student in the cafeteria? I teach for FCPS and my ES we are using the cafeteria, gym, and other spaces.
As far as eating in a restaurant, what is your definition of safe? I mean, when I eat on a restaurant that isn’t busy, people are spaces, employees wear masks, I feel safe. I can’t eliminate all risk.

Who knows?
I guess kids can't go to school. It's impossible. Public schools are different than all the open private schools. Somehow.
Exactly. I’ve been saying this for months. Who cares if we are comparing public to private. Once the kids are IN the building we all have to follow the same “rules.” And I know for a face that private schools are not socially distant all the time. Probably not the districts open in Virginia and definitely not the family I know going in other states.
Yet FCPS can’t do it and now they all want two doses of vaccines and maybe kids vaccinated too. It will never end.
DC privates do outdoor lunch. And cohorted kids.
