BTW, many of these suggestions are perfect for watching with teen and young adult kids. Mine enjoy romantic comedy, but they are totally freaked out if there's any heavy-breathing sex scenes while they're watching with mom and dad.

Leslie Knope and Ben definitely fit the bill.
Thinking back over my own list, apparently I’m into tragic/bittersweet stuff too, e.g Sanditon. (The Good Wife also falls into that category).
