I did a mix of recessed lights and flush mount fixtures.

I am in process of switching these out in my home also, just a word of advice, check the mount size (the bit that connects to the ceiling) our 1960’s lights are all way bigger than a lot of the modern replacements and so some ceiling repair was required.

Whatever you install if this is a hall light you turn on a lot, DO NOT replace it with an LED light fixture. They are programmed to burn for a certain number of hours. You don't know if you're going to get 6K hours or 3K before it slowly fades, then nothing. Now you have to get up on your ladder, turn of the circuit, take the whole fixture out and replace.

I replaced a hall light with one of these, looks nice and sleek, loved the ambient light. I would keep it on when I (used to) go to work so at least one light would be on when I arrived home late or my daughter is out late. It lasted 2 years then slowly faded last year while WFH. Can't just unscrew the cover and replace the bulbs.

It's still there. I finally found a fixture similar that i will need to install - that takes bulbs LED if I want to, and I can replace when they blow.

Omg I never knew they were called boob lights, but lying awake at night that was all I could see in our former house. I thought it was just me.

Funny thing is, we bought a new house and was able to pick the fixtures. DH insisted on getting the same lights as our last house (I guess I know why now). Our master bedroom now has a ceiling fan do different fixture but every other room in our new home has these.

I see it too. I always do with edison bulbs- especially sconces if the fixture curves.

It’s the Edison bulbs.
These are going to be dated very quickly.
We replaced ours with recessed can lighting and did away with fixtures.
