I think the BOB is the way to go if you want a stroller that will last until your kid is bigger. I didn't have a car, and my kid rode in until she was 6 (although she's tiny so she didn't hit 50lbs until 9).

Lol thanks for the laugh op. My kid has been out of the stroller since 18 months. Why are you planning on using the stroller for so long?

My guess is this is SN kid or a kid who needs a stroller for an injury? If so, check out the SN boards or ask your doctor what’s the safest way to transport your kid, it may not be a stroller.

Jesus lady, feed your kid better!

(See other people can judge you, too. None of your business why someone might want to use a stroller for their kid.)

City dweller here. While your preschooler might be capable of walking the distance you need to commute, don’t you ever find yourself needing to commute somehow *quickly*? That is when the stroller really comes in handy. Sure your 4 year old can walk 5 miles, but can he do it in a timely fashion?

My 2.5 yo won't sit in the stroller anymore. It's just as well since it won't go on the hiking trails and we did a fairly steep two mile hike this afternoon.

So it's totally normal to have a preschooler who is 50 lbs if tall. Mine can still fit into a BOB. For suburbia, yes it doesn't make sense. But for the city, yes, they still need a stroller, they can't walk 5 miles. We go hiking a lot and mine gets tired after 3 miles.

At 4.5 they should be walking on the sidewalk properly

The average American moves half of that daily, but of course we expect small children to do it.

My 2 year old is 35 pounds and she looks like a giant in her stroller. But we only use it like 1x a week. Most of the time she wants to be on her push bike

I agree with most of this except for the need at this age for a stroller. I'm the pp from earlier with a 44lb just turned 4yo. She can walk 5 miles! We live in the city and while she occasionally hops in our Bob w our toddler for kicks, she has the stamina. Haven't tried hiking with her, she probably wouldn't last 3 miles but we couldn't bring a stroller for that anyway.

My 11yo is 55 lbs. He walks, runs, and bikes. He has also reminded me that he will get his driver’s license in 5 more years.

My 8 year old is still 6 pounds away from 50 pounds...

All 3 kids abandoned even occasional stroller use by age 5. The heaviest was 40 pounds at that point. As others have said, once they hit a certain age, they feel embarrassed to hop into the stroller.
