Do you think they'll actually show up? Hardly anyone came last time (measured against the size of gatherings DC is used to handling).

Right. They are losers who believe lies.

This is the one time in their life they get to dress up and feel strong.
For them, this is like going to see a Broadway show — visiting the big city.

Let them have their day of costume play before we embark on our four year effort to root out Trumpism.

Violence always benefits the right. MLK and Gandhi had nonviolent direct action corrvet

Yeah, it's at least as boarded up if not more. But the real risk here is human bodies, which, I'd argue are more important than windows.

You CAN do something. Give them refuge.

Bowser could declare it a weather emergency and open shelters to all. It will be a shitstorm of severe ignorance...

This. I wish they would declare a nazi emergency and open the shelters.

I would definitely open up quiet space in my yard if I lived closer downtown. Like the guy on Swann street who provided shelter for BLM protestors? Would any of you not?

How many such unfortunates are “housed” with you right now? Or are you just binding up loads for others to lift?

What should unhoused people downtown and within striking distance of downtown do?

I don't like the idea of leaving them unprotected from these thugs.

Is there a record of them attacking homeless people and people within striking distance? I thought the melees the last time were with counter-protestors?

These are exactly the types of sociopaths who beat up homeless people. They are bullies looking for violence. Their gang initiation involves getting into fights.

Who do you think they are going to go after? Especially if there's no counter protests.

They also don't stick to just the plaza. I would not be surprised to see them up in areas like Dupont circle or other areas where there are unhoused people.

Well, if you stay home, the police can focus on protecting the homeless.

The best time to improve ourselves is right now, so... "unhoused people" seems pretty easy for me to get behind.

I agree that it would be best to ignore these losers. And I agree that violence only begets more violence. However, there is something wrong with ceding the streets of our Nation's Capital and the National Mall to these people so they can threaten, vandalize, and assault. There should be a massive police and National Guard presence to immediately intervene at the first sign of Proud Boy and neo-Nazi unlawful activity.

Perhaps you can offer a safe haven? Do you have a yard, put out some chairs, coffee

they vandalized BLM banners from CHURCHES - I wouldn't put anything past them

Clearly attacking banners is a natural gateway to beating homeless people senseless.

They were definitely beating people last time, not just “attacking banners.” Why are you defending these aholes?

I wasn't defending anyone. I was responding to a PP who said that they "wouldn't put anything past them" (attacking the homeless was being discussed) because they had "vandalized BLM banners from CHURCHES." That's just dumb.

Whether it might be reasonable to think they would attack the homeless for other reasons, is a different question.

Were you under a rock? They were roaming the streets harassing and attacking people.

Do you have trouble with reading comprehension? My post doesn't dispute what you wrote, nor does your post address my point that it is idiotic to think they will attach people because they vandalized banners.

Do you get it now? There's a real risk to DC residents including unhoused people and people who have to go to work. Not everyone can stay home.

But, the risk has nothing to do with them vandalizing banners. That was the statement I replied to. It is amazing how you seem unable to comprehend that.

I don't really care what someone else posted about. There are people in DC who are going to be harassed and/or attacked by these violent gangs. That's a problem.

Well, if you didn't care about that post (or presumably my reply to) why would you respond, "Why are you defending these aholes?"

That doesn't sound like you don't care and it is reasonable for me to take umbrage with your assertion that I was defending them when anyone actually reading what was written could tell that was not the case.

That was a different poster.
