My husband’s family is very overwhelming. Very nice, but the type to bombard you with 30 thousand questions and not even let you finish the first answer before asking a different (non related) question. One year his sister was asking me questions thru the bathroom door!! We’re not even there yet and I already want to be home curled up with a good book and silence. I begged to not go, but my husband made me - wasn’t worth the month long ice out that I’d get for not going. Can it just be tomorrow already?

Modeling for your daughter and son that it is OK for the cat to get presents and mom gets nothing, and that moms suck it up and do for others with np appreciation needed is not petty. It is toxic and perpetuates a very bad cycle of diminishing women and mothers.

This isn’t really a vent, but it seems the place for it.

I told DH that I didn’t feel like making a big Christmas dinner this year, and suggested that we just fry a few steaks. He really wanted turkey, so he said that he would do it.
He had the day off yesterday and made a turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and a salad. He said that he couldn’t believe how much work it all was, and was very impressed with what I pull off every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I feel both slightly annoyed that he has previously thought it was easy, and very validated.

I cancelled thanksgiving and Christmas plans with family but you can take precautions to do it safely. And if you have antibodies *and* take precautions, the odds that you’re putting somebody in danger is incredibly low. I’m glad OP got to see family. Good for them.

No no worries!! It actually would be a lot better if we could actually go to the restaurant and eat, but the closest is 20 minutes away and I don’t love the idea of driving 40 minutes to being home lukewarm food that I don’t like that much anyway (you can’t use the gift cards for delivery).

Usually they do get me a visa gift card so my face did fall a bit when I opened the card.

But it is definitely better than nothing.

Save it for when things reopen and just go for chips and margaritas.

I don’t understand this logic. Someone who had Covid two months ago but tested negative recently is not contagious.
