He did think it through— he just doesn’t think the way that most people do. He thinks that destroying the USPS will leave a gap that for-profit businesses will fill, and, one way or another, this will benefit him / them.
Private sector will fill the gap. The problem is that us blue state folks are the only ones they will fill the gap for. No one will deliver to his voters in rural areas.
Um, you realize that the private sector actually uses USPS for last mile delivery, don't you? I work in the private sector. There are some things we do better, and a lot of things that should not be privatized. Mail service is literally in the Constitution! It should not be privatized. Idiot Republicans in Congress have been trying to bleed the USPS dry for years, and this is the result.
FFS, it was sarcasm. Did you read the entire comment.

I find it hard to believe that USPS has that many Covid cases. But it could be that they have Covid days that expire at year end that employees are using up.
Sure, the problem is those lazy employees taking advantage of Covid Leave, not the sabotaging actions of DeJoy or Trump.![]()
Sorry your life is so binary and Trump-hate filled. You lack imagination. I actually assumed DeJoy was the main problem. I hate Trump too but I don't let it sabotage my brain.

Private sector never fills the gap. Nothing improves with privatization in lieu of a government service.

200,000 people are testing positive every day at this point.
Sure, it's bad everywhere, but normally we hear about outbreaks at places of work. Are these outbreaks really happening at every sorting facility?? Can you point to documentation?
I think it’s relatively rare to hear about an outbreak at someone’s work that you don’t know. Here’s a summary of what was going on at USPS prior to July 31. I assume it’s many times worse now.

I didn't notice delays till now. We hear about outbreaks at meat packing plants, Amazon, etc. Are there massive outbreaks in USPS, at multiple sorting locations in the country? Or is it DeJoy's removal of equipment?
