You can alwys terminate if it's a boy. You can find out really early. It is what I am planning to do if my 3rd is another boy. I will then try again for a girl.

Happy with two boys. It did cross my mind to have a third one/girl, but the motivation was never strong enough to do anything about it...

If someone, like, showed up on my doorstep with a newborn of either sex, I’d be thrilled. I just absolutely will not TTC or be pregnant again. It’s a non-starter. Doesn’t matter if we could guarantee one sex or the other, that ship has sailed!

I am rather thrilled not to deal with teaching a daughter tampons. Women in my family have the heaviest periods prior to childbirth, so I’m quite glad to have boys.

same here. I did not have #3 expecting a boy or girl...I knew the odds were slightly higher for boy and I would be happy either way. I think there are pros and cons of each. It would have been fun to experience a daughter but the boys jive so well together and life feels logistically easier with similar interests

I swear, I really think people who do this MUST end up disappointed on some level.

I mean, how can a specific gender possibly live up to all the expectations attached to that particular gender?

Exactly. Those who feel that way - if your daughter was a tomboy lesbian, then what? Be honest.

This is why I was bummed to have one of each. I wanted the ease of passing things down. Now I just wonder if same sex sibling fight less.

It's funny but I feel same way. It's the societal ideal I guess (one of each) but same sex siblings seem to create much more of a closer family unit. Not sure how else to explain it.

Was very close to my mom, who died young. Have two boys. Couldn't be happier. Little boys are amazing. It's the way you parent them that results in your later life with them - my husband and MIL are super close, and being a 'boy mom' is awesome.

Don't tempt fate.

I love having 2 boys. If we go for a third I’ll be happy either way. On one hand having a boy may be easier since we have all the clothes and so far our older two have similar interests/play styles. But I would be excited to have a daughter.

I know it’s a cliche, but I just want a healthy baby. I’ve had enough friends struggle with infertility, stillbirth, etc. that I realize what a blessing a healthy pregnancy is.

My two boys are very different from one another.

One really likes to go to the theatre and the other likes to go out to eat and chat with me.

When I see little girls who are giving their parents a hard time, I remember that having third child due to gender could lead to some pretty big disruptions in the things in our life that are working.

There are other girls in the family to spoil, and I am "girlier" as an adult than I was as kid because I get to be the girl in the house.

Oh! But when we got a pet, I asked for a female one.

Nope. Boy mom and I am so glad I don’t have a daughter to raise.

No, I'm getting around 25K steps/day trying to keep up with these two.

One friend has 2 boys, and have a third one saying doesn’t care if it is a boy or girl. Well, the third is a boy, and they show obvious disappointment on their faces.

Another friend has 2 boys, and have a third one saying doesn’t care if it is a boy or girl. And, the third is a girl. She is so excited to talk about how much she wants this is a girl after she finds out the gender.

Anonymous wrote:OP here. I have two wonderful boys. It’s so weird for many people but I have always wanted boys. They seem so much easier lol. My friend has two boys and wants to try for a third in hopes it will be a girl, and another friend who had a boy and then a girl, said she would have tried for a third if her second was a boy. I just find it super strange.

OP, you're judging your friends for wanting a girl, only you're doing the same thing too, only with the opposite sex.

I have two boys. If we could guarantee a girl would consider strongly trying for another. But we are done so I'll never know how it may have been different or not, whether our mother-daughter relationship would be significantly different than with my boys, whether she would even want to go to the ballet with me, etc. I like trying different experiences so would like to know if it's different with a female child. I also find a lot of my experience of the world is colored by my gender and would find it interesting to share that with a close family member.
