Yeah, in case there was any doubt: I don't think it's likely we're getting a half-day for Virginia Tech football games.

The real scandal - How did a small district beat Montgomery County to the Mcps.org ??
And why are t we getting a half day for college football games

Yes! We need to get DCUM on this question!
Didn't want it; too much ambiguity.

Anonymous wrote:Any chance the school year next year could be extended by a couple of weeks? Maybe I'm alone in wanting that but the kids have lost SO much instructional time over the past year. I think we all can see there are concepts they normally would have learned but did not, due to the pandemic, and some kids may need to be retaught things that didn't really sink in over Zoom.
Maybe there's some other plan to deal with the learning loss, in addition to summer school options like last year that were well-intended but not enough (and voluntary, anyway). To me, it seems like a no-brainer that kids need more learning time. Not trying to start a huge debate but just wondered if that's been brought up as an option.

Wow. March sounds late for planning purposes. Especially for staff and teachers!
Give me a freaking break! You teachers and your complaints are never ending. You have off summers, a million holidays and get winter and spring break. You will have taught at home for 18 months. Not much to plan. Maybe not knowing the exact start date is so stressful?!? My schedule changes weekly.

That is not from the MCPS in Maryland.
This is MoCo Virginia (Blacksburg area). Their proposed 21-22 school year ends May 20, out of curiosity have we ever had a schedule that started in August and ended before Memorial Day?
