Yes, but some of these ideas are great and it’s not about the cost.
The magnetic flashlight is a fantastic idea. DH will love this. Personally I could use a new electronic tire gage reader. Mine broke years ago and it would make a good stocking stuffer.
DC loves his weighted blanket and said he wants to buy one for everyone in the house.
The vanilla extra idea was also good. It’s something I never think about buying but wish I had when I need it. Very useful.
I bought the toilet lights for everyone in my extended family a few years ago. They are silly and some will find them useful. Others will think they are crazy. The kids liked them for a little while until we threw them out.

my parents got me a $20 gift certificate for a seed company, and it was the best present ever, I spent hours with the catalog

Different types of olive oils and vinegars. When I have them, I use them all the time. But it's just not something I necessarily think to buy on my own.

Even better is the flashlight that plugs in that turns on when the power goes out. That is what my mom has. I know because she travels with it and left it here a year ago.
