She may not sound stable but I think she sounds pretty happy. Money can definitely buy happiness!

Yes, my friend paid her useless alcoholic ex for several years. She says it was worth every Penny - he was a mean drunk who couldn’t hold down a job. She’s only sorry she didn’t do it sooner (trying to make it work for the kids). Now she’s loving her life and has an amazing boyfriend. The ex is still a drunk and still not working - found another woman to mooch off of.

Why would a "self-respecting man" not desire alimony? Lots of sexism in this thread.

There should probably be a federal alimony quota to make things fair [1]: for every dollar women get in alimony, a dollar in alimony has to go to men.

[1] 99 percent of alimony in the US is paid by men to women.

It really depends on a person. I would think most of the self-respecting men out there will not be asking for alimony. MY DH has full custody, ex-wife quit working without consulting him, he only paid alimony voluntarily for a year. Depends on the judge as well.
