And this is why my kids attend single sex schools . i only have to worry about weekends.


I suppose there's also teachers but at least their girlfriends aren't there to hanky panky in the bathroom during recess.

This is simply untrue. First, 16 is the age of consent in most states. Even if it isn't, most states have laws for minors that recognize consensual sex between teens with a limited age difference even if one is not yet at age of consent.

MY DS - 17 with his then girlfriend

my now 16 year old DS, unlikely to be sexually active. (and quarentined at home since March so no opportunities).

A lot of states have age of consent laws with limits, or distances in ages built in for exactly this scenario, so we aren't jailing a high school senior 13 months older than their classmate.

I had a good, close relationship with my mother and I never told her when I started having sex. She was my mother, not my close friend. I didn't think it was appropriate to talk to my mother about my sex life.

Some kids are just private! My mom did ALL the right things about talking early and often and no judgement and all that, she was sex positive even though it was NOTHING like her upbringing and she herself was pretty conservative about sex, but wanted us to be able to come to her. She could guess ABOUT when I had sex but there is no way she knows 100%. It wasn't in a relationship setting. I just DID NOT want to talk to her about sex, some kids find it weird to talk to their parents about sex. What is important is they know that they CAN. That was very reassuring.

There was a girl at my university in the late 90s, early 2000s who did this. As a grown women, looking back, it makes me sad that it was gossip fodder- that's a heavy burden to carry for a 19 year old (the hiding part)

Can I ask why? Whatever info you are trying to discern about a certain activity is not complete if you don't include those who are not (yet) doing that activity. Its like asking when your kindergartener could read chapter books. If everyone chimes in with a different month of the school year it makes it look like that all of them are doing this, when its a completely incomplete picture if 40% of the kids are not reading chapter books at all yet.

I told my parents. I have lots of girlfriends who told their parents(and some who did not).

My mother was very uncomfortable and asked my much younger aunt to give me advice. It did not stop me from telling her.
