Just awful. I love how OP calls it unconventional. It is a ridiculous word to use as a name. It’s not a pretty word. It doesn’t roll off the tongue easily. Pronouncing it just sounds like snake hissing. Please don’t do this to your child. If you can resist the urge to do this, I guarantee that someday you’ll look back and be so glad you didn’t name your child Sassafras.
