I know our ELA and math teachers are working hard. But my kid isn’t learning and I can’t forgive our teachers for going on strike to prevent my kid’s return to in-person learning in early November.

As for Weds, we have an upcoming IEP meeting on a Weds, during which the fact that my kid isn’t learning now will no doubt be highlighted by all.

As for specials teachers, I have no idea what they’re doing, since my kid doesn’t bother to tune into their classes (and making her do so is definitely not a priority).

(At my school the room parent typically carves off about 20% of collected gift funds for specials, and since every single class does that the specials teachers likely rake in more than anyone else.)

As always content teachers (math, ELA, science, ss) are doing the MOST work right nows and getting the most crisitism. While VPs, coaches, special subject teachers (art, pe, music) are doing next to nothing and flying under the radar because you all don’t care about them. Sure this is a generalization some are working hard, but if you’re looking at who is at the spa it isn’t the teacher who sees your child daily and is trying to do their best to teach them to read and write virtually.

This is very true. I teach a core subject in HS and I am exhausted. Wednesdays are not relaxing as we attempt to do small groups.

Wednesdays are for fun screen time and complaining about how much we hate virtual school.

Ugh 3 year old sounds insane - school, no school, pandemic, no pandemic. I think after age 4 its not so bad because they can play by themselves more, get their own snacks, self regulate (toilet stuff) better.

I am getting tired think of being in a pandemic with a 3 year old.
