OP here. The third row is going to be tiny for any of the options that will fit in my garage. Luckily I only have two kids and we don't carpool very often (and not at all right now.)
As for Acura, my husband drives one and has had zero issues. He loves the car. I would definitely consider an MDX.

I think the dimensions of the Ascent and Palisade are the same (or close). [I had similar requirements so had cars I was interested and the dimensions listed so that I did not forget why I ruled something out.
