This is easy. He does the work to sell it and he gets to keep the money as fun money. If he doesn’t want to do that, you throw it away.

When I got divorced I sold all the junk I'd been holding onto for 20 years on Ebay and Craigslist. Made about $30,000. It paid the mortgage for a year. There were a few $5 items in those sales, and some of what I thought were $5 items bid up to $200 on Ebay. I also donated a lot, some of those donations should probably have been sold.

I donate everything. I use itsdeductible.com to catalog and value the donations and it uploads to my tax return and I can get a hefty deduction because we’re in a high income tax bracket. A lot less time consuming than photographing, listing, and dealing with customers. A truck from a donation center comes and picks things up in front of our house monthly.

If you choose to do Buy Nothing, put a date on your listings. For example, I put some hand-me-downs up, but mentioned that I needed them gone asap. Seven people replied, so I just pulled a name, put it on the porch, and DM’d her my address. She’ll come get it sometime today. So easy, and the more you give the more you know your community. I got a set of Disney Cars sheets and a cuckoo clock from the group, which were both lovely. We’ve probably given a larger dollar value than we have received, but it’s great to keep stuff out of landfills, to know your neighbors, and to occasionally receive things you don’t have to spend money on.

DH is similar. My rule is you want to sell it, then you sell it. If you’re asking me to handle, then it’s being donated. He’ll never photograph and post things, so we end up donating everything.

OK I misread the part where he'll deal with the buyers.
