Yes, this. I can’t believe how idiotic and selfish people are. Her kids have missed out on enough? Like her kids are uniquely afflicted? No, your kids don’t see Santa because it’s not safe because of coronavirus. My freaking 4 year old knows this. She’s be happy to lecture anyone about it. Getting the pandemic under control requires sacrifice. Teach your children about sacrifice, and how to care for others. Tell them, we sacrifice for a year so we can have the rest of our lives to live, and others can too. We sacrifice because it’s the right thing to do. And stop being a selfish jerk.
And while you are preaching that children should continue to be the ones to sacrifice in all this, I know you aren’t going out to eat, drink, work out, or socialize outside of your immediate family, correct?
- mom who will NOT be taking her children to see Santa this year, but is tired of kids getting the short end of the stick on everything these days

That was my first thought, too! Sounds depressing and awful. Skip Santa. Write him a letter instead.

Do your kids really care as much as you care about the photo op? Every mall Santa line I’ve seen has kids fidgeting, whining, crying, etc.
Yes my kids do care about this. It is a family tradition. Would they throw a fit if we said, sorry can’t do it this year? Of course not.
We don’t go when there are lines so it’s always been a pleasant experience for our kids. Nope, no whining or crying, just pure excitement to see Santa.
You guys are all nuts. We don’t have to stop everything as a society. We just need to change behaviors so they are safer. You are crazy if you think kids won’t enjoy seeing Santa this year because they are masked and socially distanced. Kids are resilient, but the mental health issues you guys are creating with your kids will be staggering. Because this isn’t just about Santa, this is about the kids being entirely ignored during this pandemic.
