We got this on Amazon for $600. Has been great. Korg B1SP 88 Weighted Key Digital Piano w/ Stand Three Pedal Board and Knox Bench.

OP again thanks for all the helpful responses. We are probably going to start with used electric piano I am seeing lots of choices for sale and checking out the concert hall sales sounds a great idea once DC is a bit more advanced!
