Our doula from Balanced Bellies had to help us transition out of the snoo and into the crib. Once we did that our baby slept great in his crib. Naps and night.

I unswaddled at 3 months because my son was starting to roll himself over. He hated the Baby Merlin but the Zipadee worked great for him.

It was at the 2 or 3 month check up when our ped said no more swaddling, so we compromised with this for a few weeks.

Yeah I don’t think it’s that uncommon from mom groups I’m in. But can always count on DCUM to judge you without offering advice haha!

Not meant to judge I was agreeing with OP that we only use it for bed time not naps

Thanks this perspective is super helpful. Perhaps we just need to transition him earlier than we thought so he can associate night sleep there and day sleep will catch on.

I know you don’t want to mess with the snow but the only thing that worked for us was moving full time to the crib. We were getting great nighttime sleep with baby in a PnP in our room but had to hold him for every nap. But once we transitioned him fully to the crib the drive to sleep at night is greater so he would sleep there for longer stretches. And now he knows it’s where he sleeps so he naps there with no problem. Having him sleep in two different places can be very confusing for them at this age.

You mention sky lights and such and I would just chime in here to say - do not make the baby's room pitch dark and silent for naps. Day sleep should feel different from night sleep and the kid's gotta be okay with it. If you have to do all the lighting shenanigans for a nap it'll never happen at, say, Grandma's, or when they're 3 or whatever.

And if you don't want to swaddle for naps, then it's no big question why baby won't sleep the same as they do at nights. If you don't want to ask your nanny to baby-wear - which I never would, IMO - then you just have to let her figure out what she wants to do. Drive around til baby sleeps? Sit and rock?

This is hard, but you have kind of set yourself up for this, I have to say.

+1. Also my DS went through this phase at about 3 months where he sucked at napping. Maybe it’s just the 3/4 month sleep regression? I’d just wait it out a couple weeks and try not to create any sleep crutches.
