I’m in the same boat as OP, but my kids are grown. Last 4 years have been hard between Trump husband, his alcoholism, and now a Pandemic. Definitely reconsidering trying to work it out, but our values are now so obviously different. 😢

PP here. Yeah, once, after a George Floyd protest, my DH said he was leaving. And he actually left for a couple of days! I was sooooo happy, because I thought he might be less confrontational and aggressive if the divorce was his idea. But he came back all cooled off and everything just went back to normal. It’s going to take my filing, which is scary because then I am instantly the enemy. I genuinely wish for him to be happy and he is definitely not happy with me, so I wish he could see it as a loving thing. But he won’t.

DCUM: never break up a marriage over cheating! You need to stay with him!

Do you do therapy in the DC area? Seriously, I’m not OP but I could have written her post word for word, nearly. My Trump supporting husband is drinking and in a rage tonight. He was livid that there were fireworks going off near us and that I brought our child outside to watch them. The past 5 years has been hell in our marriage, but ironically the 4 years of Trump was much more peaceful than the year when Hillary was running. Now his rage is going g to be dialed back up. Our child was a toddler then and too young to leave with him for 50% of the time. Now he is older and better able to articulate what scares him and if he needs help. It will still shred my heart into pieces to be apart from him for half of his childhood, but I have to give him at least one home where he doesn’t have to walk on eggshells around his father’s rage all the time.

I really need a good therapist who can help me through this. I struggle with depression and I am terrified of becoming the enemy of someone with NPD. I have seen what he is like now with people who he considers the enemy. It’s scary.

PP here. That's your opinion. There has been lots of evidence from what I've looked into but nothing the media is reporting. We can agree to disagree. That is why we are in America. We have the wonderful freedom to have different opinions.

You'd better pray for the continuation of the Electoral College and respect for its outcomes. Without it, very few (if any) Republicans will ever win again.

My family text has been a shitshow this week that reached new heights tonight. The ugliness is entirely coming from the Trump supporters. The others don't respond or say something like "I see it differently but in glad we are all able to have a vote." It is truly like a monster has taken over the Trump supporters minds and hearts. It has not been like this in years past. There was some different type of ugliness when Obama was elected, but it was a tiny fraction of what Im seeing now. It is truly scary seeing family turn like thag.
