Nine-year gap for me and DH. We're 48/57 and have been married 17 years. A childhood friend has a 13-year age gap with her husband, 48/61, and have been married 25 years. My parents had a 22-year age difference and were married for almost 34 years before my dad died at age 88.

We are also 10 years apart, both fortunate to enjoy our jobs, and be paid well (we are full pay for 2 in private college) And, DH is 64, and would like to retire next year, would actually like us BOTH to retire next year. The only issue is not knowing what health insurance will cost for me for the next 10 years until I can also become eligible for medicare. That, and the uncertainty of the ACA. While we feel of retirement is completely within reach, and we would be very comfortable, it could end up being another $200,000 or more out-of-pocket just to cover me for health insurance over those 10 years. That seems crazy. What are others with a large age gap and not in the top 5% doing or planning?

Nah, we just are a good match, especially this year working from home. We met through friends and assumed each other’s ages wrong: he though I was late 20s and I thought he was mid-30s.

I'm 7 years younger than my husband. No issues.

We have a 10 year age gap. I'm younger and always the one in pain.

We are 50 and 61 now. Met when we were 28 and 39. Works for us.

36 me and 49 DH. We met when I was 26 and he was 29. I always liked older men, but he was the oldest I had ever dated. He has a very young spirit, he is very athletic, loves sex (possibly too much), and he is never tired. We have 3 kids and are happy

This. It’s not ideal for many reasons, esp if you want to have kids.

Why? Its not been an issue at all for us, especially with kids.

My DH is 7ish years older and if he'd been younger, I think I would have wanted another kid but as it is, he''ll be retirement age when the youngest is finishing college.

I don’t think your age gap is that large. Late 20s attracts every age.

+1 my experience is similar to yours. It’s about 9 years maximum gap for someone we know but it’s also in the first marriage for both.

Before meeting me (we’re two years different), DH was in a relationship with a woman fifteen years his senior for a year. He jokes about having been a boy toy sometimes.
