Last year Arlington's Academy teams were in the DA and did not compete in State Cup.
As they only had DA till U15, Arlington's first teams already participated in the State cup at the older age groups...
Do not get too excited, even if USYS sells nice Final 4 T-shirts, making it to the semis is much easier than winning the finals.

I find it amusing that when another local Club swept most of the boys age groups last year, you were silent.
I'm the PP. You are correct that I was silent last year but that was because I only discovered this board during covid when I was trying to discover information about what was going on wrt soccer. That said
(1) You are incorrect if you are asserting that I am biased towards or against one club or another. I was merely picking up on the earlier references to Arlington in this thread and thought it was helpful to highlight the teams to show that a sweep was still possible.
(2) Arlington are far from achieving a sweep or anything close to it My guess is that, as well as they have done so far, they end up winning one or two finals only. Still - it's fun to watch how they do - no?
(3) Which club swept the boys age groups last year? As far as I can see SOCA (now Skyline and not local) won two age groups and no other club won more than one. The local clubs with victories were Alexandria and Arlington (one each), with the other age group going to Beach (not local). Looking at the losing finalists the only local clubs I see are Arlington twice and Herndon. So unless I'm looking at completely the wrong results - it appears that Arlington had the best results locally last year as well. No?
Traditionally State Cup was a competition for non ECNL and Non MLS next/GA teams. I guess that could change but I suspect a lot fewer teams will enter if the top ECNL/GA/MLS next teams start throwing themselves in the mix.
Pretty weak response if this is indeed what happens. But I don't think it will be - after all plenty of non league teams enter the FA cup year after year - and having the best teams in the state cup makes it a better competition for everyone.

Which state cup, USYS or US Club?

Too bad they are absent as they would have been competitive in most age groups.
ECNL clubs are entered but I don't think it is their ECNL team. McLean has entered their green teams
It was MacLean's ECNL teams playing - no matter what they called the teams on the entry forms.
Nope. One state cup game directly conflicted with ECNL games so it's not possible for the boys to play 2 games at once.
One the girls side I know they were all green teams. I have a DD at McLean and no ECNL teams entered state cup
