I’m so sorry for your loss.
My father died fairly recently after a fungal infection in his blood as well as another hospital caused illness.
Try not to think about what ifs. In my father’s case and yours they did not have a clear path to help and were elderly so it’s not easy to come back from.
Go easy on yourself. Put your needs first. Love to you at this difficult time. May his memory be a blessing.

OP, I'm so sorry for your whole family. The pain of grief is compounded by circumstances beyond your control. I found it helped me when I lost my dad to write to him. I wish you peace.

Op here. I’m so devastated thinking about my father alone in the VA knowing he had covid and the probable outcome. With none of us being able to see him and hold his hand and tell him how much we love him. If it was any other possible terminal illness you can be there with them to give them comfort. But my father had to suffer emotionally alone without his family. This is one of the worst ways to lose a loved one. I’d rather lose them to a massive heart attack or car accident. I’m so distraught over this and can’t stop crying thinking of him and how he must’ve been feeling.
