I have two girls and they haven’t bathed together since maybe ages 4 and 5. They just sort of grew out of communal bathing. Was not gender based.

By this age, both of mine had moved to showering by themselves with a quick check by me to make sure all of the soap was gone. Their preference.

Mine are 6 and 2 and our tub is large-ish but still too small for them both, especially with my long-limbed, hyper 6 year old boy. Between the slippery soapy/bubbly water, faucet and hard tile, it seems like putting them both in is asking for a minor or moderate head injury. When the weather is nice, they do use the little blow up wading pool together, but they normally have bathing suits for that.

Why fill up the tub twice if you don't need to?

Besides some kids like taking baths with their siblings I did, it was an extended playtime for us, and in my personal experience often means fewer arguments about getting the bedtime routine started.

There's also that some kids require more help and supervision than others. Like always different things work for different families, one way is not superior to the other.

My kids are 6 and 8 and still take baths together (their choice). Whenever one of them wants to stop, which I imagine will be soon, we will stop.

My parents and brother were/are often naked in front of me. It’s cultural... not wrong... please realize that YOUR ways are not right... they are just one way of seeing/doing things



I assuming you would change the bath routine if one of the kids didn't want to do it any more. Or if they didn't want to be used as an object lesson for anatomy.

It's not really about sexualizing it's and respecting their individual comfort level and boundaries.


Yes, of course. If they ever wanted to shower alone, I would be totally fine with that, but at this stage and with parents that are often baked in front of them, I doubt they will be embarrassed anytime soon.

At age 5 for my daughter and 6 for my boys they requested their own baths (well, now, showers)

The strangest part here is that by most these ages they can bathe independently. You know that you can send a 6 year old to give himself a bath right? They don’t have to be bathed by parent at this age. They can do things independently- bathe, brush teeth, and get ready for bed. Teach your kids, folks

Wow. Some people keep doing this do late. 7-9? I’d have died if I’d been out naked in a bath with my brothers in 3-4th grade. You’re pretty aware by then.

We stopped by kindergarten. No longer appropriate. These poor kids will remember this stuff and be so grossed out by it

I think when the oldest was 6. Come to think of it that's when my sister and I( both girls) stopped bathing together too.
