Yes. It’s not an unusual type of thing in the political world. The President invites foreign leaders to Camp David, members of Congress travel together & have all manner of weekend events. In any case, inviting people to spend time at your country house is a thing amongst the British upper classes.

Yes. It’s not an unusual type of thing in the political world. The President invites foreign leaders to Camp David, members of Congress travel together & have all manner of weekend events. In any case, inviting people to spend time at your country house is a thing amongst the British upper classes.

I think the whole Balmoral segment was meant to allegorical, for lack of a better word. There’s no way that Thatcher wasn’t briefed on what to expect, but they wanted to dramatize the class divide. Thatcher and Diana both hated Balmoral, but Diana knew how to act the part.

Really? I think it’s a caricature. The whole head tilt thing is way overdone. She’s trying so hard to get Thatcher’s accent and pacing, she sounds robotic and has a weird raspiness in her voice. Watch videos of Thatcher — she did often speak at a slow pace, but her voice wasn’t strained at all.

I infrequently feel sympathetic for the royal family (excluding Diana of course) but this show does make me feel bad for them sometimes! Especially Charles and Margaret.
