You sound like fun.

Too bad. I'm planning on dressing as Marc Elrich for Halloween. All I need is a clown mask and a fat suit.

Things like farmer's markets, etc. have someone in charge who is responsible and accountable for following safety guidelines. Maybe the County is concerned about the free for all that is Halloween. It would be challenging to ensure 6 feet distance or masks, plus multiple people touching candy, etc. I'm not saying I agree (so don't jump all over me), I'm just saying that may be why they are taking this approach.

I've been trying to brainstorm how to eliminate risk for my kids and other's on Halloween, and frankly, it seems daunting (but if allowed, we'll give it our best shot!).

We have been following all the recommendations but I draw the line at Halloween. FU Gayles. My kids have suffered enough. If you can be creative about opening bars and restaurants you can find work arounds to this. Disposable gloves for ringing the door bell; no touch candy distribution etc. We are going out and will have the lights on.

The Facebook comments on the news posts are all over the place but a lot of them question whether or not it’s really cancelled, playing around with words or if they have the authority to do so. Many people are pointing to hayrides and farmers markets and otherwise. Montgomery county is incredibly inconsistent and lack of clarity is confusing and upsets people.

Does Montgomery county allow farmer's markets? Very little difference.

It pays taxes. The local government can then afford healthcare.

This county is lost and has no leadership. from to to bottom.

They say it is ok to have the buses running, packed in some areas because they put a chain up and a shower curtain to protect the driver, they say that is safe but this?

Come to VA. We will have trick or treating.

I'm confused by this. Is there going to be a new health order? And if so, what specific behavior will be prohibited?

All these anti Halloween recommendations make no sense and are going to backfire in the long run I think. If we can have indoor dining and massive outdoor protests then we can have safe trick or treating. The recommended should be wear a mask, supervise your kids, keep some distance from the other trick or treaters. We are just on the cusp of the weather turning colder. Let people have some safe fun while they can and maybe they limit all they indoor parties and play dates. Otherwise they are just going to stop believing the health recommendations because they are so inconsistent and at times feel punitive to kids and families.

What the heck is wrong with all of you people?
"You need to stop submitting to this stuff"??

There is a pandemic. Those of our leaders who listen to science and experts have to make difficult decisions. We have to abide by them.
