This. Quite funny how so many on here actually believed OP too.
The idiot parade would not have formed as quickly had OP not masterfully made sure to point out it was a charter. That gets the "Charters are Evil" juices flowing super fast to the point where logic and reason cease to exist. I would totally buy OP a cocktail if I knew who they were.

Sounds like a bait and switch scheme to drive enrollment at other campuses of this school where there are seats by spamming a campus that has a wait list.

Was the school offering you a chance to have the child sit in on virtual sessions because they expect a spot to open up and don't want the kid to get too far behind? That would still be illegitimate, but I can't imagine what else a school could be thinking. Once a kid is formally registered, there's no way to limit him or her to virtual only classes once the rest of the school goes back.

Once you are enrolled, you are enrolled. i would like to see them try to not let you in the building when they return (next year, Next January)

OP, if you won't name it, PLEASE still contact the DCPCSB, OSSE, and maybe the media. This school is going to get a ton of money from this (see https://osse.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/osse/publication/attachments/2019-20%20UPSFF%20Payment%20Letter.pdf for per-pupil funding) and some family that accepts it without understanding as well as you did is going to put their kid through two transitions this school year, which really sucks for that child.

I think you need to reveal the school. This is totally not ok.
The school is looking to pad the numbers, get the $$, then not allow the kid in the building!!! Fraud.
