I bet you were already depressed or burnt out but you didn't notice before because you were busy. Get some rest and find new hobbies. People with jobs usually have no time for hobbies. Now is your chance.

OP, call your local library and they may issue you a temp card so you can check out ebooks.

Quit whining. People are losing lives and homes. You are not in that situation. If have been given a golden opportunity to spend this time doing something for your own comfort and pleasure, or for educating yourself, or learning a new skill or hobby - then for GODS SAKE use it.

White people! SMH!!

We lost our home.

And who says I'm white? I'm Hispanic, for the record, and you're a Grade A b*tch.

I’m sorry you lost your home.

Then it seems like you should be looking for a job...any job...right?

When my BFF lost her white collar office job, she ended up babysitting for a neighbor in need. Long story short: being a nanny for her neighbor provided cash under the table and allowed her to be at home for her own kids. They made some adjustments, and she’s decided to stay home and babysit (at least for now).

Good luck to you.

I wouldn't brag about tax evasion.

Wow, you guys like pushing pills. Is it that hard to accept you trashed the entire country? You have to act like I'm the problem for losing almost everything? Newsflash: mourning is not depression. It's not even adjustment disorder. It's a crappy life. I'm trying to imagine who's satisfied sitting at home, never making a difference. How they handle it? Because there must be more than yoga and naps and novels.

And yes, I did apply for a few fast food and retail jobs. They are flush with applications here because of the high unemployment. Didn't look at me twice when I showed up for an interview (got two, after lying on the applications).

Right.
Op Seems to be clinging to the ‘not depressed’ badge. Label doesn’t matter- you need the exact same treatment

There aren't any puppies available these days, according to the Post. The waiting list is, like, 2 years long.
Just FYI.

You can buy a puppy.

OP has no money for buying a dog, duh.

If you want something, you get a job and save up. Duh.

Not depressed. I just don't see the point in sitting at home all day, depending on someone else.

?

What does that mean? Do you mean relying on your spouse to work and pay the bills?

Candidly, as someone who busted my butt in school and at work without any meaningful break aside from the occasional maternity leave, I’d love to take a break and rely on my partner for a bit.

Here’s what I would do:

Get up, take a walk, and eat breakfast.

Then I’d update my resume.

Break time! Another walk or Netflix.

Grocery shop and prep a nice but simple dinner.

Etc.

Moving forward, I’d try to apply for a few jobs a day. I’d track with a spreadsheet. Maybe I’d do one application in the morning and one in the afternoon. The rest of the time I’d enjoy the weather and indulge in some hobbies (Netflix is a legit hobby).

Anonymous wrote:You're lucky you have someone to cushion your job loss. Think gratitude. Then do something purposeful. Stop wallowing. The fact that you are rejecting every suggestion here is a huge red flag you are depressed.

You keep reiterating that you aren't depressed. I, and other posters, think you clearly are. Maybe when you think "depression," you get a certain image in your head that doesn't fit you right now. But depression manifests in different ways in different people. (When I suffered from it, I was still able to get up early, work out, meet my commitments, etc. I wasn't lying around crying in my PJs like I'd seen on TV shows.)

So please get help.

Then take a walk every day. Volunteer.

That's not satisfying. I already do both.

You can volunteer in a way that feels like a job. Find something substantive.

I think it is easy to feel like you're wandering and lost when you don't have anything to do except for chores. But turn it into a postive. Make a daily list of what needs to get done. Don't go crazy. You don't need to do all household activities in 1 day.

Some examples. Get up and start a laundry. While laundry is going, make some coffee and read a book you got for free (tons of online resources). Throw laundry in dryer and start next wash. While that wash is going, clean one room in house. Or do one chore in house (vacuum, clean surfaces, etc). While last wash is in dryer, do something fun for yourself. Free workout video, a puzzle, paint, watch an episode of a TV show. When the dryer is done, put away the two loads of laundry. Don't do any laundry for the day. At this point, you've done quite a bit. Now is the time to job search.

I literally loved working. Didn't need anything else. Now I'm just a chauffeur and cleaning lady, and there's got to be more.

There absolutely is! What are your interests? What is something you've always wanted to do/learn that is possible due to Covid? Learning a new language? Free. Tons of free online art classes. Hell there are even online virtual visits at museums, zoos, and aquariums. You could learn a new skill that you could use for a new job. Get a certification.

If you tell us where/near where you live, maybe we could help come up with some local ideas.
