I remember Marcus from his high school days. He was a star even then, but it is hard to believe he is old enough to run for office. How does that happen?

There's no age qualification that I know of. Maybe 18+? In fact, having someone younger than Vince Gray on the council might do well to bring in a different perspective.

If you review Ed Lazere’s two decades of advocacy (Ed’s a lobbyist) on behalf of the citizens of this city what has been accomplished? Take a look at the DCFPI website. It’s filled with position papers that tell you a whole lot of what you already know and provides few if any solutions.

Silverman, Nadeau, George, and Lazere will kill any chance we had for statehood by allowing the Socialists to turn us into a laughingstock and bankrupting our city.

Lazere is very smart and committed to the city and working people. He’s my pick.

Marcus Goodwin, a DC native, is the only choice that will actually help the city move forward. Hoping that Progressive Ed can be reasoned with is a recipe for failure.

Having had a conversation with both, you are just a Marcus campaigner. Seriously, there is no comparison. As a matter of fact, I don't really know what Marcus stands for. I don't care about a reliable vote. I want someone who really understands this city and its budget. Someone who can ask tough questions and actually get something done. Marcus hasn't done anything. Sorry, smart guy, but not yet.

And FYI, I could care less if someone is a DC native. What difference does that actually make? I came here in 1991 after college. I chose to be here. I am from MD. I could move back to my suburb, but I believe in this City and sent my kids to public schools in this City. This is my chosen home.

I'm afraid we're probably out of luck.

Support police by having someone else take care of mental health, homelessness, education... ?

Yes. And also maybe by not pcalling them pigs and threatening to eliminate their jobs?

Why wouldn't we have fewer police officers if other people are handling most of the other needs?

Ed brings nothing to the counci except a reliable progressive vote.

Marcus Goodwin, a DC native, is the only choice that will actually help the city move forward. Hoping that Progressive Ed can be reasoned with is a recipe for failure.

I don't know much about him but I'd say about 90% of candidate signs in my Ward 4 neighborhood are for Marcus Goodwin.

Almost like big money is betting on him 🤔

What is Goodwin's story, beyond being a developer? I feel like I've seen his name on various yard signs for years in the last few elections. What stopped him from winning before?

I sat on a call with Marcus Goodwin. I did NOT like him. He seemed too young and inexperienced. He didn't really know what he was talking about. Not impressed. I know lots of folks in my Ward 4 neighborhood are supporting him. He must be in with the Mayor. It seems like they follow whatever she wants.

I'm the Ward 4 PP that also is seeing a lot of signs for him. I wonder about this. It does seem many homes that had Todd signs now have his signs.

If I voted for Janeese Lewis George, who among the at-large candidates should get my vote? I like Robert White well enough. I haven't looked into the other candidates' resumes yet.

Janeese endorsed Ed Lazere and Robert White FWIW

PP here, thanks! I'll look more into Lazere (I heard him him call into the Kojo show a few weeks ago and he seemed reasonable, but need to look at his resume).[/quote
I talked to him once and he was really knowledgeable on the issues - very deep understanding and I believe he's ethical too.

Not as charismatic as Janeese, but I could see him being a force for good in the council.

I went to grad school with Ed and just have a ton of respect for him. He's a little too progressive for me on some issues, but I have no doubt that he can be reasoned with.

I know that feeling. But things that felt like "too progressive" are things that I came to realize were in the right direction. Like Janeese talking about reducing crime by funding things other than police.

I'd also been impressed by him and just looked at his endorsements, and the first one listed was Karl Racine, which is a big plus for me.

PP here, just looking at his Wiki page, I like that he's a progressive. Also like that he sent his kids to DCPS, and he lives in Brookland so I assume they didn't attend WOTP schools.

Not sure how much credence I would give to the lawn signs. My neighbor had a Marcus Goodwin sign just “appear” on her front lawn even though she never requested one. I wonder if the campaign is just plastering signs trying to make it look like his support is bigger than it really is.
