A lot of people are suggesting the latter, but if it's a party to celebrate an adult milestone, like a birthday than a movie that is aimed at the adults seems appropriate.

If it's outdoors, the kids can get up and go play, or stay and watch, or whatever. They don't need to be catered to every minute.

This! Just find a movie you think your sister would like that isn't too inappropriate if a kid watches it too. Then have some other activities for kids to do outside.

A documentary like Free Solo or Maiden
An old family movie like the Muppet Movie or Clue or the Straight Story
One of the better Harry Potter movies

I would agree with that, but if the event is to honor someone, in this case an adult having a birthday, than it seems that having something she likes would be a higher priority than the 7 year old.

Goonies has a lot of bad language. Probably not the best choice. Although my kids were probably seven and 10 when I put it on for them not realizing how bad the language was.

And very racist. I hated it then and cringe every time it’s recommended.
