I've loved each of my cars. If I could find a 1983 320i 5 speed in good shape, I’d write a check on the spot. That said, I’ve never loved any as much as I love my current Jeep.

My first car was my grandfather's Chrysler. I definitely don't want that car back.

It is not just my first car. But back in my day I bought 15-20 year old cool cars with high miles a bit rusty cheap and drove them the last few miles. This was between age 18 and 28. Some are really valuable.

I still have fond memories of my first car, which I got while I was in college in the 90s. It was an '84 Ford Tempo, two-tone brown. Eventually with one gold door after I slid on black ice and bashed one of the doors in. A couple years in the felt on the ceiling started to detach and hang down on our heads til my college boyfriend 'upholstered' it back onto the ceiling with gold thumbtacks. One of my coworkers at the fast food place where I worked installed a Kenwood tape deck stereo for me and I was so delighted. Omg, so many good memories of driving around in that thing with my friends, making out in the backseat, etc. Yeah, OP, I'll always remember it fondly.

OP, this depends on your personality and the make/model of your first car. If you are not a car guy, the only thing you are feeling is nostalgia, which, as you may know, is only the good parts of your past memories attached to youth and energy.

My first car was a Toyota Tercel Station Wagon. Jesse Pinkman drove a red one in Breaking Bad. I have no desire to get that car back.

Mine was a 1987 Chevy Celebrity with windows tinted so dark I looked like I was a drug dealer. It was also a two door.

The engine threw a rod on the way to Spring Break and had to be replaced. My dad had bought an after-market warranty. The mechanic thought I was insane.

I loved my first car - a 1991 Subaru Justy that i purchased in the mid-90s - I think it was only a 3-cylinder but it was so small it had mega zip. I called it my Penny Racer. That thing never broke down on me once (I did maintain it). Logged in well over 200K. I drove it to DC for my job interviews but after getting a job, I gave it to my parents and bought a Honda. They drove it for several more years, given that they drove less than 10 miles a week, LOL. My mom and I both cried when the finally had to junk it.

I lived in NYC for years so I didn’t get my first car until I was 36. I drove it for 10 years - a Subaru wagon. When I traded it in (for a new Subaru) I dropped it off at the dealership and watched them immediately drive it off the lot, and out of my life. I actually cried (and wondered if I was nuts, ha). It was a good, safe car that kept my kids and I safe and I was very attached to it.

The first car i bought myself was an acura integra, and i did love that car, 250,000 miles, still miss it. Some day...

I loved my first car so much. It was a cheap toyota that was falling apart. I bought it myself when I was 20 and it was very cheap because the body was rusted out and it has close to 100,000 miles. I was great on gas and I drove it until it completely fell apart. I really did love that car.

It’s been 25 years and I certainly don’t want a car like that now. It’s happy memories because I was proud that I bought it myself and I loved the freedom of not taking public transportation. We will likely give our kids cars someday because we are in a much different financial situation than our parents. I doubt they will have the same first car love.
