I’m unmarried and have no kids or family. Before things get bad, I plan to go to the Netherlands to do assisted suicide. I’m probably good until 55-60. Then I want out.
How old are you? Are you I'll? I say this because I play tennis, do judo and even go trail running with people in that age range, I'm 40. Many many of them lock my butt. Most all of them are still working full time or in their semi retired gig.
Pp will change their mind at 59.

Everyone thinks they would end it but when you are getting dementia you don’t have a good sense of how you are doing. And there is still a lot of quality life left at that point that you would forfeit.

+1. MIL was sharp as a tack before she tripped, fell and hit her head on a piece of furniture. She sustained a TBI and has no short-term memory. She now lives in a private care home and cries whenever people visit her. She would hate to be living like this.

My father would have moments of clarity from Dementia and beg me to end it. You have to be brave and determination .

We do have kids, but I/we have zero desire to stick around if we can't wipe our own butts or remember each other's names, or make our kids supervise our care if it gets to that point. We have an agreement about how we'll handle it when the time comes, although I hope there's an assisted suicide law passed before that.
Yeah I watched the long and awful decline of my grandmother and my dad and the whole process was so drawn out and traumatizing for everyone involved.

I want out before dementia sets in. I’ve seen the whole cycle 4 times already. Not for me.

Exactly. My grandma was working to middle class but by she was extremely lucky to buy a single family home in silicon valley when it was still a sleepy little area full of orchards.

Mine had very little. Went to nursing home. Lived in a bed in a room with three others until she died.
Random dementia people came by the room wandering in and out.
