DP. I don't think a kid with a 1350 is ''a terrible test-taker'' by any means! They're not ivy-bound most likely but its a perfectly respectable score. Especially if OP's kid only took it once and didn't prep. There are people who pay for thousands of dollars in prep for their kid to get that score. I've heard of kids having 4.0 UW and less than 1000 sat, but that is none of my business and I don't make snarky comments like you. Enough with the DCUM ''If you don't have a 1550 your grades must be fake'' nonsense.

+1. It'll be interesting to see what happens this year with admissions, though at least these scores won't hit the CDS until winter/spring 2022 (the 2021-2022 CDS).

UMBC is a great school. What majors is she considering?

FWIW, a college consultant who has received glowing reviews on this forum advised us to submit SAT scores only if the score was at or above the 50th percentile. Forgot to ask whether for admitted or enrolled students, take your pick.

Yuck, not Penn State. For so many reasons. I don’t know why that is always suggested on here. The rest of the list looks good.

I agree. Wouldn’t be my choice either, nor a choice I promoted to my child, but we aren’t talking about my family. OP’s kid has multiple large state universities on her list, expressed a preference for their in state large flagship university, and OP expressed a geographic preference. PSU fits the large state school and geographic parameters and would be an easy RA admit for OP’s kid.

And those are admitted stats. Enrolled stats are lower, 1290-1460. I agree, submit.

Naviance data from our MD HS, which generates roughly 300 applications per year to UMD shows not one person with 3.9/1350 being rejected.

Looks like anyone with 3.5/1300 is being admitted.

I think a private counselor would tell you to submit anything over a 1300. This is a weird year, but, I too think a 1350 is a great score. Even if she doesn't get a straight admit, I would think it puts her in freshman connection range.
