Anonymous wrote:OP here. I find it hard to believe too. I’ve seen new builds that don’t meet these requirements. I was told I could proceed if I want but they will not do the install. I seriously wander how folks with older homes manage to update without competing a major overhaul to the layout.

My 70s house woes
Anonymous wrote:The size does not work. If I recall correctly according to DC code, there must be 15 inch clearance from the center on both sides of the vanity, and 30 inch clearance from the center of the toilet to the next object, and 21 inch clearance in front of toilets. There were a lot of measurements but bottom line I’m restricted to a pedestal sink under 19 inches for all bathrooms and the toilets must be round not square.
This is what I ordered:

I was told I have to return everything as they will not fit according to code. What?!?! I literally checked with the technician before ordering. I’m so upset.
I have no idea what to get...I’ve spent WEEKS selecting the vanity, lights, flooring, toilets, and faucets which all currently reside in my living room. I’m lost and this is a major bummer. I’m pissed with the tech because it takes me weeks to make decisions as everything is connected. I know there are bigger issues in the world - unfortunately, there always are.
Need ideas on vanities. Back to the drawing board. OMG!!!
