Bull to his not being able to breathe! Until he learns to wear a
mask then he stays in house. No exceptions.

Their kids masks are the best! My daughter hated every other mask we tried. He face is petite too...these are adjustable and have a nose wire. Order right away because they take a while to ship. If you pick the more "blah" designs they ship sooner.

Question about vistaprint mask. They are not made in 100% cotton, right? I think their materials are polyester, are they less breathable or scratchy on face? Is cotton mask better for kid to wear full day in the long run? Do you wash them in laundry machine & dry them in dryer like other cotton masks, or they have to be hand washed & air dried?

Face shield if you need more protection.

Do not use neck gaiter or bandana. Bandanas are not very effective and neck gaiters actually disperse the virus more. CDC just issued something saying this.

Try different masks. Just experiment. I am super sensitive to things touching my face and have asthma and have tolerated some masks much better than others. I find surgical mask with a nose clip is easiest for me.

Where did CDC say not to wear gaiters? Or are you just referring to that junk study?

Lol. A gaiter is a joke of a "mask". Namecall the study all you want.

The report about the fact that gaiters are pretty ineffective was done at Duke University, which isn't exactly known for "junk" science. Some headlines overstated the problem, yes. But the study itself wasn't junk, and it found that gaiters and bandanas both are lousy choices and let the wearer exhale particles these materials do not block. They're useless and give wearers a false sense of security that puts others at risk.

I have a hard time wearing a mask for long periods and my teenage son does too. I had to wear one for four hours one day and when I finally could take it off I couldn’t stop coughing for the next hour or two. I think sometimes dust or particles can get trapped in there and you’re breathing it in the whole time, it’s not good for you. Make sure you are washing the masks frequently. I toss all of ours in every time I do laundry and then hang them out to dry.

When kid wear pleat cloth mask, are those pleats supposed to be stretched out to cover more than half of face (almost touching eyelashes to chin bottom) or stayed in place ( don’t stretch the pleats)?

I am willing to get different masks to try out if it is for the kid sake. Where can I I get the one that comes out, like dog nose ones for kids? I mean those pp mention above the mask with a stiff curved seam down the nose & also down the mouth, so that they are less likely to touch the face/nose/mouth? Are they breathable or have nose wire piece in it? How do wash them if they have a nose wire piece?

Thank you.

The pleats are supposed to be expanded so that the mask goes from over the nose to down under the chin. If they aren't expanded than it's much thicker than it should be and might make it harder to breathe.

She’s thinking about breathing. Once you think about breathing it’s hard to do. She needs to put on the mask and then do something that distracts her. Once she forgets she is wearing the mask she’ll be fine.

My 6yr old breathes funny in his mask - but he is not distressed. He just likes to play around with breathing heavy or fast and making the mask suck in or puff out. It’s new and different.

Highly recommend ditching cloth masks for active kids. They're too thick. Ours do much better with disposable during physical activities.

The masks with a stiff curved seam down from the nose are nice because they’re less likely to touch the face and get sucked into the mouth or nose if you start breathing heavier.

Practice on a setting where she’s relaxed, comfortable, and preferably distracted so the mask isn’t her main focus. Allow a little extra TV time if she practices with her mask on, and gradually build that up until it becomes natural for her.

We mask trained the kids by letting them wear them while watching TV. They have no issues. It sounds like anxiety.

They are panicking and probably have anxiety. I have the same thing happen, it just takes a while to get the hang of it and not be scared.
