It’s very pretty. If The Wedding Singer is popular in the future, she might get called Julia Gulia. But I doubt it.

I’m Brazilian. My cousin’s name is Julia.

WTF?

In Portuguese Julia is pronounced with a J !!! It’s 3 syllables Ju - Li - A
Where are you from that you pronounce it with a Z??

- Carioca

There is a Saint Julia, so I think that if a family is serious enough about their Catholic faith to want to be sure that their daughter has a saint's name, then it's a perfectly acceptable choice.

On the other hand, I don't think it's Catholic in the sense that other faiths can't or don't use it. I think a Protestant or Buddhist or Atheist Julia would be equally fine.

I'm pretty Catholic, and I have friends with kids named Sean Francis, Mary Agnes, and Theresa Brighid. Those would be examples of names where I would be surprised to find out that the kid wasn't Catholic.

My 6 year old is Julia. We love the name and she seems pretty happy with it. My DH was raised Catholic but we are not a Catholic family.

We are Catholic and named our daughter Julia.

I had some hesitation about it because I didn’t peg it as a Catholic name (think Christina, Maria). I don’t think there’s a rule book on what’s a Catholic name so go by “is the name in the Bible” or “is it a saints name?” But as a PP said, there’s always a saint!

Happy with the name!
