I know a few, but they are all from patriarchal cultural backgrounds and are mostly sad that their families don’t value their DDs. No one actually wishes their DD was a son instead. I have a friend who let her in-laws pressure her into aborting a girl during her first pregnancy and then she conceived a girl the second pregnancy as well. She and her DH moved away from his parents and went in to have two lovely girls.

Your friend is horrible for caving. That is unacceptable and her husband should have stuck up for her.

I am so sick of this judgmental bullshit.

My DH and I have been happily married for 18 years. We have a lovely 10 year old daughter. We also have spent over $100k trying to have a second child but IVF has not worked. We have lost very wanted pregnancies along the way.

This is tragic but it has made our marriage stronger. We are deeply grateful for our child and each other.

Stop thinking you know anything about anyone other than yourself. JUST STOP.

Most divorcees have only one child. I think divorce is less likely when you have more kids because it is too hard to raise more than one on your own.

Huh? The vast majority of couples I know wanted a girl. And once they had the girl, they didn't want any more. Truthfully, we could have been happy and complete with my oldest (a girl). I couldn't have been happy with only one if it were a boy (if I had 2 boys, I'd feel differently. Like I tried and it didn't work out).

Women control childbearing and most want a girl.

What a strange, sad post.

One child might be a compromise.

No. The two couples I know with one daughter each both did ivf and were not able to have a second.

A male heir? How quaint.

This is a bizarre post.

What a clueless post, OP. We have only one child, a daughter, because we only planned to have one child. Happily married for 30 years. I didn’t think people as dumb as you actually existed.
