We are still being cautious here, but would be totally socially distanced if we lived somewhere with higher numbers. We didn’t see anyone other than our nanny during Phase 1 in MoCo.

Fl resident here-yeah...it's not all Miami/Dade. My county has relatively low cases.

My dc is going to school in a few weeks. I'm cautious, but not scared. The fact is, that the most dangerous risk to my dc in their school day, is the ride to and from school! Dh and I are essential workers who have worked with the public, throughout the pandemic.

I'm glad there are choices here. Some people are choosing dl, and I support them, whatever their reasons are. Some are choosing inperson, and I support them whatever their reasons are.

Im also in GA and my kids go back to private school in two weeks. They're putting in hand washing stations, UV light hvacs, grouping kids into pods of 4-5 kids, providing PPE for teachers, including more outdoor time while the weather holds. We have been doing play dates, going to the pool, went on vacation, etc. My husband gets tested weekly for work. I wear a mask when I go out. We don't visit anyone that is old or immunocompromised. I don't stress too much about it otherwise, I certainly wouldn't go into full lockdown, that seems very excessive for healthy folks.

I would definitely be more careful if I were in GA or FL. It's about the numbers, yes, but it's also about leadership. I feel like DC has been relatively conservative in its approach to opening things up (we'll see if that continues with the school announcement this week), and while things have ticked up a bit recently, that makes me feel more comfortable when I do go out. I wear a mask, but I go to the grocery store and I took my daughter to a museum in recent weeks. We have had a handful of socially distanced, small gatherings with friends in backyards, but we wait 10-14 days before the next one to see if anyone gets sick. We're really limited in the families we do this with, just two families who we know are being as careful as we are.

But DC has a mask order, many businesses are still closed, and it tracks and publicizes the Covid numbers daily. Plus the contact tracing program is looking pretty good (not perfect, but decent).

If I were in a place where the government had been slow to institute mask wearing (or actively fought against it, as in many places) and where I didn't trust the government to track or report Covid numbers reliably, I wouldn't go anywhere or do anything. I definitely wouldn't send my kid to school -- I wouldn't trust the government to do anything to protect kids or teachers or other workers.

This is why preventative measures at the government level are good. They build accountability and trust, which makes reopening the economy and actual possibility. I'd be living in a state of constant fear if I were in one of the hotspots where the governors and local governments have proven themselves so untrustworthy.

I've relaxed a little since the late March / early April level. If I were in GA/FL, or if VA rose to those types of numbers, I suppose I'd go back to that earlier lockdown level. For me the big differences are:
- ONLY the grocery store once every 2 weeks, vs 1-2 trips a week to grocery, Target, Home Depot, etc.
- Stopping to chat with neighbors if we pass them while out on a walk. We're wearing masks and stay 6' away, but the more paranoid version of me would just wave and keep moving past without opening my mouth inside my mask.
- I wouldn't be taking DS for a haircut, eye doctor appt, and dentist appt next week
