Wow are you clueless. CT has beaches sure but Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard are a completely different story and are the true summer destinations. CT beaches are for people who live in Fairfield county to go on a day trip. That's like comparing some simple city park to Shenandoah.

+1. I grew up on the beach in Fairfield County. It's a nice beach for being commuting distance from NYC, but it's not a beach destination and is nothing compared to Cape Cod. My friends who still live there and have money still take real beach vacations on Nantucket. That said, having a local beach (and lovely town pool clubs with no wait lists) does make those towns much more pleasant to live in than Bethesda!!!
Totally agree. Would love to be back at Compo right now.
My grandparents lived in Weston, and I spent so many happy childhood days at Compo.

I grew up in CT and agree with all of this. Watch Hill was our go-to for a day trip, and Martha's Vineyard or Cape Cod for a longer trip/bigger splurge.

I live in Mystic. We’re not known for our beaches. The water is pretty to look at and it’s nice to hike along the rocky shore but for actual beach time, we all go to RI & the cape. Give Watch Hill a try, you can find soft sand and it’s gorgeous. East beach is the one I prefer in WH.

Cali beaches are beautiful but not for swimming. Last time summer at the ocean in so cal the seaweed was so thick you lhad to struggle to enter the water.
Yes - this problem was santa Barbara. Been to many beautiful west coast beaches. I just prefer to swim in the Atlantic. Water temp is great and you can swim and surf or boogie board for hours. All good.
