Is she lonely? That’s why I’m on my phone a lot. DCUM provides something akin to human interaction -!: people understanding me. Zillow and Instagram are escapes from discomfort.

What would happen if you ask her to put it away from, say, 5-7 every night, so that you can all be present for each other?

It would be an addiction if the phone caused her to neglect everything else including herself. My laptop is on the moment I wake up until I go to bed. My husband has never checked my usage. I don't hide anything from him. So what if I am on that long. He sees me on it. I don't think he cares as long as I'm having fun. I never use my phone. I don't like owning one.

Maybe you need to calmly ask your wife if she has a problem instead of talking behind her back on a public forum. Are you on your phone ?

Yep. Bringing in $200k per year and the great family health benefits. If my husband wasn’t working and sat around on his iPhone all day I’d be pissed too.

She’s escaping, depressed, hyper anxious, etc. try and get to the root of the issue.

Taking her phone away will make things worse for now. Get her to go to therapy.

Start small.
Make a phone free evening. So dinner without phones and then leave them in the kitchen when you go to bed. Get books or talk or something. We do that once a week and it really helps. I know I'm addicted to my phone and dh is too so we actively try to remove ourselves from them.
