Sit down Karen. Magnets are priority #3,648
This is why we left MCPS.
Where did you go?
Big 3 over Eastern and Takoma (and ultimately Takoma). Would have loved DC to stay in MCPS but the logistics of either were far too challenging for us. Both seem to be amazing programs. Friends with kids there really like them. If either had been within a reasonable commute, may have been different. But the pandemic sealed the decision.
Good for you, but "this is why we left" isn't exactly an option that you should brag about like it's the choice parents who care about their kids should make...when the "this" costs $45K/year. Geez.
Really? We sacrificed a lot to have that choice, and I'm not apologizing for that.
NP.
"Sacrificed a lot" means that you had extra you could trim to get to $45K per year, for at least the next three years. Which, good for you. But coming on a public school board and bragging about it is really poor form. It's tacky, and it's gratuitous, and totally unnecessary.
I hope your child has a wonderful experience at "Big 3" but maybe stick to the private school board from here on out.
/Another parent of a child who got into both magnets, but who would need to "sacrifice" both rent and food budgets to pay for private

Have you emailed AEI yet?
No, what is AEI and why should I email it/them?
Not being snippy, but how is your child in magnet and you don’t know what AEI is?

You clearly are being snippy and my kid is a rising sixth grader and I’ve clearly had no need to date to know what it is. I’m still not clear why I should email them. Are they asking for feedback? Would this be different to filling out the feedback form on the draft plan?
