Why no way dentist? We have appointments coming up for our kids and don't want to put them off in case the numbers go up again. I assume the dentist and the hygienist will wear face shields, do temperature checks, and everything will be sanitized (as usual). If they only wear face masks, I might not like that. I can't imagine they'd have their face that close to someone and not wear both a mask and a shield.

I've taken my kids in for well appointments - the waiting rooms were empty, masks were required, they had us wait in an exam room instead of in the waiting room the majority of the time.

What you're not reading in the news is that one of the reasons that ICU rates are so high in states like TX and AZ is because so many people with chronic conditions held off on going to the doctor while isolating and ended up in the ICU because they weren't taking care of themselves. I'm not saying rates aren't high because of increased Covid - there's absolutely increased COVID, but the ICUs wouldn't be maxed out yet if there hadn't also been an increase in hospitalizations from other conditions at the same time.

I took my 11 year old for her annual check up. Doctor did it as an in person visit because she was due for multiple vaccines. They are doing many appointments as telemedicine and have separate office hours for well and sick patients so I felt very safe taking her.

I took my baby for her 12-month visit and will be soon taking her for her 15-month. DH is having some extensive work done on his teeth so he is back at the dentist’s. My dog had been going to the vet for some ongoing issues. The only thing I have postponed is an elective surgery for myself that may require a multi-day hospital stay.

Has anyone had blood work for their kids done? Where did you go and is the process any different now?

I'm going now (in VA) because the numbers are low; now that we're in Phase 3 I expect them to go back up. Going now buys us time in case we can't go back for a long while.

My kid just had her dental visit, and we plan to schedule her well-child visit at the usual time in September.

I'm grouping them to minimize risk. One kid is going in for her well visit a couple of months late, but that way we'll do two well visits and flu shots all in one appointment. The pediatrician signed off on the plan even though it results in a slight delay in a couple of vaccine boosters.

We've still been going the entire time.

4 yo had dentist and well check in march, opthalmologist in may, ENT in june. Almost 10 month old had well check in march and June.

Yes we have gone to dentist for cleaning, have to go back for filling and done well checks . They were all very well organized, stay in car till called , masks, sanitizer etc

Yes, you should definitely keep up your routine visits. Especially vaccinations. There’s been outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases in other countries and it would just take one person coming here to spread measles or whatever to a bunch of little kids who are behind on their vaccines.

We’ve done our annual visit and have an allergist busy next week. Dental in 3 weeks. I say get them done now before it could get worse in the winter.

I still need to get my mammogram and physical and I am putting them off.
