Regardless of whether the FTF "guy" is a SYC coach or a parent or a spy sent by SYC to another club to scout out possible players for the 06/05 Boys age groups is irrelevant because there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. The fact he claimed/admitted that's what he was doing is odd - in and of itself - because most coaches who are recruiting players are not going to advertise who they are or what they're doing hanging out at a field. This behavior smells like a parent or an inexperienced coach who does not know any better. Those coaches/directors who do recruit like this stay away from people and - unfortunately - lurk in the parking lot to press their agenda after the practice is over. "Psst, hey - I've got an offer for your kid!"
What's even more disturbing is the trash talking and club/team bashing that taken place on this thread. The petty need to denigrate a club or a specific team and suggest that any of the clubs/teams in area are somehow superior to the rest is ridiculous. There are individual teams at each club who've been successful at times but there are very few teams in the 06/05 boys age groups who have demonstrated consistently solid performance with the exception of Bethesda. And let's be clear, a good portion of the players on the Bethesda Blue teams were in the DA, so they were hand picking players to compete in select competitions in order to rack up wins. Even in the DA space, Arlington and DC United's 06 & 05 DA's were not consistently successful.
My final observation is the "behind the keyboard" bravery displayed by certain posters is disturbing. Real issues are surfacing when your anger about youth soccer manifests in cowardly, verbal attacks on people, teams and clubs. Act like an adult! Be grown up enough to say who you are so that people in the real world have clear insight into what a horrible person you really are and how you really think. Better yet, walk away from the key board and the field cause ain't no one in this group the parent of the next Messi. If you think you are, you're even more delusional and out of touch with reality..

This speculation makes you no better than the OP—this is just stirring the pot. Or do you have a source?

Their coaches are amazing... at recruiting.
You are correct in that most, not all, orange players did not start their soccer experience with SYC. Most, not all, were developed by LMVSC and came to SYC with their long time coach. Can’t blame a kid for wanting to stick with his/her coach especially if it is the same age group.

I'm an active parent in our age group. I'm not director, and not a delegate of parents. But more than that, I'm calling you out. You're unwilling to specify your club affiliation and/or the field this was allegedly happening at. This makes a troll. You're ignoring my previous counterpoints of:
- FTF is not a coach at SYC
- Why would FTF guy say "Come to SYC", especially since everybody is coming back
- Maybe you're confusing "SYC" with "SYA"
- Maybe you're confusing "Springfield South County Youth Club" (SYC") with "South Country Athletic Association" (SCAA).
Name your club.
I'm an active parent in our age group. Doesn't mean anything.
- FTF is not a coach at SYC Accepted. Doesn't mean that he can't be out recruiting.
Why would FTF guy say "Come to SYC", especially since everybody is coming back You're an 06B blue parent? You know about that team. Maybe the 05B blue. Maybe they're looking to expand the rosters (normal at the high school ages). Maybe they're looking to fill out the younger age groups. In any case, NONE of what you've typed precludes the idea that SYC would be actively looking to bring in new players.
- Maybe you're confusing "SYC" with "SYA" Possible, not likely. I have 20/20 hearing.
- Maybe you're confusing "Springfield South County Youth Club" (SYC") with "South Country Athletic Association" (SCAA). See above.
It was at Patriot Park at approximately 6:35-6:50 on 29 June 2020. Not my club, tbh, which is why I hesitate to involve the club. I have a younger son (2007) who was practicing there as a guest.
