I would add the name Cadence

I always thought if I had a girl I’d name her Alice and it was actually our top girl name when we had our first child but our first child wound up being a boy. By the time we had our 2nd kid, who was/is a girl only two years later, I really didn’t like the name anymore. In fact now I cringe a bit when I hear that name. I think I mostly liked it when I was a kid because of Alice in wonderland and really don’t know why I changed my mind about it (it’s not like I met a horrible person named Alice in the two years between my kids’ births).

When I was young I thought I would name my daughter Treasure.

My DH liked Anna, which I agree is lovely, but a bit simple for me. My personal test was that a name had to work for a 5 year old, a 30 year old both in a boardroom and a ballet studio, and an old lady. Even better if the name has personal meaning, is easily spelled (as someone who has a name similar to Ashlee, I didn’t want my DD to go through life correcting spelling like I did), and isn’t so popular that there’s multiples in each classroom. Naming isn’t easy!

Are you me?

- one of half a dozen Alli/Aly/Alisons in school. My mom wouldn’t let me use a nickname.

I gave my kid a classic, well-known, historically significant (but not commonly used) name with a LOT of potential nicknames. Everyone can spell it, and he can have a long formal name, a cute kid nickname, and several other options of he chooses later on down the road.

When I was little I wanted a daughter named Cassandra. Seems a little dramatic now.

I loved Isabella. And Sophia. Now totally cliche. Didn’t name my daughter Naomi and still love that name.

In high school, I dreamed about having girls and naming them Melody, Harmony, and Allegra (this was before the allergy medicine). I had 3 boys, though. Collin was on my short list for #1 and I am glad we went with our other choice.

Gabriela. Nothing wrong with it. Just doesn't fit in my life or family.

Not for a kid, but when I was younger, I used to wish my name was Joni. No idea why. Can’t stand that name now.
