i had hycosy done yesterday and found a polyp at the same time. The lady said my dr will discuss this with me. Im not sure how serious this will be and if i need surgery. Me 33 and TTC about one year now and no good luck. Recently bleeding or spotting between periods. Good luck for everyone and hope we all will see the BFP very soon....

Wow, I'm glad I found this thread, although it began a year ago. So inspiring to hear that I'm not going through this alone and there is still hope. My hubby and I have been trying for over a year. I was diagnosed with "unexplained fertility". Had 3 IUI with Clomid / booster. Proceeded to IVF, doctor discovered that I had polyps. Just great. Had an emotional breakdown. Went back to my Kaiser fertility doctor and demanded some answers. Why weren't they able catch this given the fact that I have 4 polyps? Had the sonogram. Now scheduled for surgery 6/9/11.

I really want to believe that after I get them removed, that we would conceive naturally. And some of you have given me a lot of hope, thank you. Best Wishes to all and a lot f baby dust!!!

i think they polyp sometimes gets in the way of the embryo so that's why they want to take it out. My sister had this procedure and said it was no big deal, good luck to you...

My husband and I have been trying for almost 7 years now. I was extremely regular when I first started menstruating as a teenager. I had a lot of stress, an extremely bad case of mono, and weight fluctuation in my early 20;s and that's when my periods started to become irregular and have been ever since. I am now 31 and my hubby will be 32 in a few weeks. It's been a long emotional battle, especially when many of your friends and former co-workers around have been getting pg with no issues at all. Well anyway, last year I went to my OB who had put me through a lot of tests to find out what was going on. Everything kept coming back as "normal" and my hubby is fine too. I was put on a low dosage of Clomid for 6 months and it worked well for my body - I became regular again with my periods. But after 6 months of the clomid my OB said it's time to look into a fertility specialist. So I did a little research of fertility Dr.s around our area, Well last week we finally found out 2 possibilities on why it's been so hard to conceive. It's possible that I may have PCOS or more likely a very tiny polyp in my uterus like all of you here. She said that it's an easy procedure and once it's removed she'll put me on Letrozole which is a close cousin to clomid and works really well for those that have our issues. So after so much emotional turmoil of TTC for 7 years, we finally have 2 possible reasons which are both easy to have removed and deal with. After I have it removed, my fertility Dr. said we should have an easier time conceiving and if anything the furthest we should have to go is an IUI. Good luck to all of you! We are all in the same boat and it helps to be able to share our experiences with one another! I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of you as well - will most lkikely have this procedure done next month. *June 2011.

Hello, I know this is an old blog but I'm glad I came accross it. I have been diagnosed with Uterine Polyp and a large golf-size Fibroid. THis has caused me me to have a total of 3 miscarriages. I am 34 years old and and am hoping to have children in the near futire. I have always gone thru regular checkups and not one doctor was able to tell me why I had such irregular and painful menstrual cycles. I was in the ER a few weeks ago due to how weak I was and how heavy my period was, I passed out. Ever since then, doctor I was refferred to conducted all the necessary tests and now found the problem. I hope all goes well, my surgery to remove the polyps is on 4/13/11. Please say a prayer for me, I hope it all goes well and I am able to conceive soon enough.

You certainly could get another opinion but I doubt another doctor will tell you anything different. Polyp surgery isn't any big deal. I've had it twice (they often re-occur). Neither surgery resolved my infertility but I have no doubt that they were necessary.

So it is interesting reading all of the posts but i didn't see anyone say anything about getting a second opinion.
is it suggested to have a second opinion? i always believe in getting another MD who has no clue about ur problem check u and c if he/she find the same result.

I just had my great big polyp removed last week and what a wonderful experience.....in at 6AM, ready for surgery at 7AM and out by 9AM. I did rest that day, but didn't experience any cramping or other side effects. SO GLAD because I was kind of worried (actually a lot) about so many little things, especially being put to sleep, but I couldn't even remember when I got knocked out

I had a Hysteroscopy, polypectomy D&C. I will be getting my pathology results this Friday. I really hope everything comes back ok and are able to conceive soon.

Anyone diagnosed with a large polyp? I'm 35 (no children) and I have been trying to get pregnant for 8yrs. and no luck. Now I find out I have a polyp. Had imaging and sonohysterogram done, now I'll be having my surgery to take it out next week. Not sure how long I've had it for and pray that it's not cancerous. Before I knew I had a polyp I had 2 miscarriages last year 2010 (the first two I've been aware of), face pimple breakout and loss of energy (almost faint like when I overworked at the gym) and lately (past 4 months) I've been having HEAVY periods, noticed because I dropped the tampons and started using pads - so I really didn't know my bleeding. Has anyone had similar symptoms that can share their experience?

I'm 25 and my doc recently discovered a polyp. I am having it removed in two weeks. I had been trying to get pregnant for a year and had no luck. I really hope that we are able to conceive.

Things will turn out fine. The best of luck to you. I am a true believer of that saying, "Things happen for a reason" and at a certain time. t's our minds that can drive us crazy...the stress of it all that makes your thoughts go a hundred miles - thinking the worst of the situation...making us feel like hypochandriacs. I know I've been REALLY stressed out to the point where I think that this polyp is cancerous and if so, that it has spread...that I have heart problems, because of the shortness of breath among many other things. : / I just need to get a hold of my emotions and be more positive.

I'm 40 years old and have been TTC for two years now. A few weeks ago, I had an HSG which showed a polyp in my uterus. I also have been struggling with heavy periods, horrible cramps, acne, and some breakthrough bleeding between periods for a long time. I truly wish I'd had the HSG sooner but gratefu that I finally had the courage to step foot into a fertility specialist's office. I will have the polyp removed in January (next month) and I'm feeling very hopeful! I'll say a prayer that we are all blessed with healthy happy babies very soon!

I just had my sonohysterogram done yeterday and I was so scared because of the cramping and pressure the doc warned me about at first which I VERY MILDLY EXPERIENCE! It wasn't bad at all and I was so scared. I am waiting to call my doctor for my results and see what kind of procedure I'll be having next month to remove what the doc believes to be a 3cm polyp in the lining of my uterus.

Does anybody know what the size of a normal uterus lining should be by any chance?

So glad to hear that you pregnant, congrats! I really hope that nothing else is found, but this polyp that has to be removed. I'm 35 and I really want to have children. This experience has been so awful and draining. I have my sonohysterogram tomorrow and my surgery on Jan. 20th. One thing I am experiencing is shortness of breath and I think it might be my stress or nerves...anybody else experienced this?
