I think the best lesson is to point out that there are people of all races/cultures from all over the world who contributes to the progress of humankind: science, medicine, literature, sports, arts. I also find that reading fairly tales from different cultures predisposes young kids to accepting them easier later on.
You could also point out that sometimes there are bad people out there, and they can be any race.
I do not believe there are any double standards, though, and will not teach my children to think that and/or feel guilty.

Attending a diverse school is nothing. News flash—racist stuff happens in diverse environments. In fact, more so simply because if you are in a homogenous environment there are other issues at play and no one to pick on for their race.

What, you're so strange! My kids know Liu Xiabo recently passed, and that it was the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square a few days ago. They challenged the legitimacy of those in power, unjust economic policies, corruption, and restrictions on the political process, and lack of accountability and constitutional due process -- all of which is relevant to the USA in 2020.
