OP is right. You can't have arbitrary speed limits. If 50 mph is too slow, then the gov't needs to change the limit, not punish citizens for obeying it.

Please be careful. The park police in DC are horrible. I have never been treated so rudely during a traffic stop (outside of a park!) for an expired tag as I have by the park police. Truly breathtaking. My friend’s husband was pulled over and TAKEN INTO CUSTODY for reckless driving based on a car that had reported him driving quickly. The cop hadn’t even seen it. They took his 2 yo son into the station. And then there’s the man they killed for no reason. The park police is terrible. Be careful!

You are ignorant of a normal driving custom which also happens to be the law, and you weren’t paying attention. When you drive, you need to be checking your mirrors as well as the road in front of you and the speed limit. You are so obsessed with going the speed limit, and it’s really not the only thing that matters.

23:31 I've probably gotten more than my fair share of speeding tickets on DC area roads, so I'd never get mad at anyone for speeding. BTW, if you consider someone who drives cautiously and obeys the speed limit a horrible human, then you obviously have never encountered "true" horrible humans.

The speed isn’t the issue. Cruising in the left lane rather than using it for passing is.

Are you sure the speed limit was 50mph? The GW Pkwy ranges from 25-50, but changes the speed limit multiple times during a stretch.

§ 46.2-804. Special regulations applicable on highways laned for traffic; penalty.

Any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions existing, shall be driven in the lane nearest the right edge or right curb of the highway when such lane is available for travel except when overtaking and passing another vehicle or in preparation for a left turn or where right lanes are reserved for slow-moving traffic as permitted in this section;

She can’t just sit in the left lane driving the speed limit the whole way and blocking traffic. I don’t care if you are mad people speed in that lane. That’s them doing something they can get a ticket for which only affects themselves. OP always driving the limit in the left lane and not getting out of the way to let people pass makes her a horrible human. She doesn’t care about the other motorists.
